I love free stuff, particularly when it’s quality, not the cheap stuff. A variety of free, quality, legal services are available to the public here in Olympia and I volunteer or participate in a number of the opportunities. Check these resources out and bookmark them for future reference!
Thurston County Volunteer Legal Services (TCVLS) provides free legal advice and information for civil (non-criminal) matters to low-income residents of Thurston, Mason, Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties. Volunteer attorneys can advise you by appointment at free evening legal clinics in Olympia, Shelton and, beginning in January 2015, in Aberdeen.
Moderate Means Program: Many Washington families can’t get the legal help they need, simply because they can’t afford it. The WSBA Moderate Means Program is a free referral panel designed to connect clients whose income is within 200–400% of the Federal Poverty Level to lawyers who offer legal assistance at a reduced fee.
Family Education & Support Services provides assistance regarding kinship and third-party custody issues. I am working on putting together a clinic for parents and caretakers who need assistance in this area.
