504 Plan

Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act oversees the accommodation of 504 Planstudents with disabilities that do not interfere as severely with a student’s learning. A 504 plan may be necessary for a child who has a disability or condition that is not an impediment to learning and has not negatively affected a child’s academic success and access to the learning environment. Students with 504 Plans do not require specialized instruction. Rather, they have have special needs regarding diet, ergonomic accommodations, authorization to take medications, and other similar, noninstructional needs.
